Virginia Tech is beginning a process to identify, define, and strengthen “destination areas,” or elements of the university’s curriculum and research that will differentiate Virginia Tech as a leading university. Virginia Tech is responding to critical issues that impact the human condition through our transdisciplinary communities. Teams of faculty that are part of the Destination Area initiative are engaging departments, institutes, and centers in a collaborative effort to address complex problems in: Tech for Humanity. Data and Decisions, Destination Areas, Virginia Tech Data and Decisions Request for Concepts The three proposals selected (below) include collaborations with faculty from the University library’s and five of the colleges within Virginia tech: Liberal Arts and Human Science, Science, Engineering, Business, and Veterinary Medicine. For its first five destination areas, Virginia Tech chose: Adaptive Brain and Behavior; Data Analytics and Decision Sciences; Global Systems Science; Integrated Security; and Intelligent Infrastructure for Human-Centered Communities.
